Meta Smart Glasses Program
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Meta smart glasses have become highly popular and effective tools for those who are blind or visually impaired. Launched in August of 2026 thanks to a generous anonymous donor, AURORA of CNY’s Meta Smart Glasses program connects lower income blind or visually impaired Central New Yorkers with these assistive devices. As funding permits, the program identifies individuals who are good candidates to receive maximum benefit from the devices and provides training to ensure the devices are used to their full potential. WHO QUALIFIES?
While all applicants are considered on a case-by-base basis by our program committee, preference will be given to applicants who:
Are legally blind
Do not need prescription lenses
Have limited income
Have a compelling need for Meta Smart Glasses
Are already in possession of a smartphone
Are able to secure transportation to and from our Syracuse offices for training
