AURORA is a premier resource and clearinghouse for information on vision and hearing loss in Central New York. We are available to individuals, groups and area service providers for a variety of outreach & educational opportunities.

  • FREE PRELIMINARY VISION & HEARING SCREENINGS

    A special effort is made to make free vision and hearing screenings available to individuals who typically have difficulty accessing services.

  • SPEAKERS BUREAU

    Inspirational and hope-filled accounts from individuals who have received services and have not only survived but THRIVED with a significant vision or hearing loss or both.

  • INFORMATIONAL FORUMS & WORKSHOPS

    We offer expert panels, special interest topics for the communities we serve, as well as targeted programs for community providers.

  • PROVIDER SENSITIVITY TRAININGS

    Our team provides technical support and sensitivity training for service personnel, direct care staff, first responders, partnership organizations or any professional employer or group. Comprehensive and custom-designed programs can be developed for community-wide dissemination.

  • AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION

    Teachers, who are Deaf, provide an enriched learning experience for students in language and culture. All levels from beginners to advanced are welcome.

  • LOW VISION FUNCTIONAL ASSESSMENT

    A professional from our agency will meet with you to give you a full low vision assessment and help you get the aids and devices to help with your daily tasks.

  • TRAINING OF AIDS AND DEVICES

    Our team will work with you on how to properly use your new aids and devices so that you can live more independently in your home.

  • REFERRALS TO COMMUNITY RESOURCES

    Whether you need to see an audiologist or ophthalmologist, Aurora will work with you to connect you to the best providers in our community.

  • PATIENT EDUCATION AND SUPPORT

    We will provide you with information about the risks and management of diabetic eye disease, and also any hearing loss you may be experiencing.
