At any age or stage of life, a loss of vision or hearing can impact overall well-being and personal confidence. AURORA’s services provide the individualized support, instruction and equipment needed to maintain the highest level of independence possible.
Low Vision Assessment
A personalized and comprehensive assessment is conducted to determine functional vision and address issues of lighting, magnification, glare reduction and in-home management .
Falls Safety Assessment
AURORA is a partner in the Step Up to Stop Falls™ Community Coalition and conducts environmental evaluation in and around the home to determine the level of falls risk. Safety recommendations are made and assistance with minor modifications is provided, as needed.
Training in Aids and Devices
Adaptive equipment can improve function and assist with independence with everyday life tasks. One to one training is available to learn how to use these aids and devices. Devices include such things as lighted magnifiers, glare reduction lenses, special phones, talking items and tactile modifications.
On-going Resources and Support
Referrals are made to community resources as needed to assist with the on-going management of a vision loss.
