Chad Norton is a man with a mission. His efforts to beautify the city and enrich the community through the development of Webster’s Pond, off of Valley Drive, has led to an outpouring of community support.
So far he turned what should have been a five year plan into an 8 month project that built a fully accessible trail around the pond so people in wheelchairs could enjoy the entire grounds. He did this by engaging the help of Saunders Concrete and Covanta Energy along with other generous donors.
AURORA has decided to get in on the action as a thank you for all that Chad and his father, Bill, have done for the members of our support group. For the past three years they have hosted our annual support group picnic. Rain or shine, their hospitality has always made it a wonderful experience. So the members of the support groups, led by Nancy Anderson and David DeFrancis, held accessible BINGO and a descriptive movie events to raise money for the next practical need at Webster’s Pond… an accessible bathroom. AURORA matched their efforts and the check was presented by Nancy Anderson, pictured here.
New fishing programs are beginning at “The Pond” this April. For more information, or to schedule a summer event, contact them at 315- 727-2922 or visit their website at www.websterpond.org.
